Dr. Mariko Estrada is a registered psychologist, and she is one of the founding principals of Sunnylea Centre. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Toronto. She has had clinical training experience and professional experience providing psychological services in a variety of settings including the Hospital for Sick Children, Peel Children’s Centre, Toronto District School Board, Peel District School Board, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Hamilton Child and Adolescent Services, George Hull Centre, and The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre. Dr. Estrada is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and is authorized to provide clinical psychological services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. She views client challenges from client-centred, strength-based, attachment, and trauma lenses, and she draws on a number of treatment modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment Self-Regulation and Competency framework, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy. Dr. Estrada was a recipient of Canadian Psychological Association’s John C. Service Member of the Year award in 2021.
